About Prudential Center
History
An architectural landmark, Prudential Center introduced the mixed-use concept to New England in 1965 by building office, residential, and retail on a 23-acre site, formerly a switch yard for the Boston and Albany railroad. It was redeveloped in 1993, adding climate controlled pedestrian arcades connecting the complex to the surrounding neighborhoods.
Prudential Center is still the largest mixed-use real estate complex in New England. The Center is comprised of more than 5 million square feet of office, residential, retail, and parking space in the heart of Boston's Back Bay, including close to 1 million square feet of new office, retail, and residential space. In addition, the Center is connected by enclosed walkways to four hotels and the Hynes Convention Center, providing weather-protected access for several city blocks.
Owner, Manager and Leasing Agent
The commercial portion of Prudential Center is owned and managed by Boston Properties, a self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT).
